The studio began in 2011, but Ashley’s making story started earlier. When she received her first sewing machine in 2005, the first things she stitched were paper: invitations, scrapbooks, and mixed media pieces under the name The Paper Chick.
Over time, fabric and fibers became the heart of the work. Porch Light Studio is a name the business can settle into, one that feels warm, familiar, and a little like coming home.

The meaning behind the name
A porch light means someone thought to leave a light on for you. It is coming home in the evening, seeing that warm glow, and knowing there is a place waiting. That feeling is what Ashley hopes the studio carries into every handmade piece.
